Vitamin A
This vitamin is a fat-soluble vitamin that occurs in two forms in nature. It is found in its true form in animal foods, such as fish oils and liver. Vitamin A can also be found in vegetables in the form of beta-carotene. It is an antioxidant that may protect against disease by neutralizing unstable oxygen molecules, called free radicals, within the body. Vitamin A helps fight colds and infections.

Vitamin B
The B Vitamins are a group of eight individual vitamins, often referred to as the B-complex vitamins. These include thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), folic acid (B9), cyannocobalamin (B12), pantothenic acid and biotin. Vitamin B helps recover from excessive alcohol consumption. It benefits people who have lots of stress in their life. B12 is also known to increase our energy level, and helps maintain healthy nerves, skin and eyes. Folic acid (B9) helps the body make healthy new cells and also assists in tissue growth.

Vitamin C
This vitamin works as an antioxidant and is one of the most highly publicized, yet least understood, of all the vitamins. It is a fascinating and very important nutrient. Vitamin C helps maintain healthy blood vessels, bones, and teeth and has been documented in the prevention and healing of numerous ailments and diseases. It is vital to the production of collagen. It helps protect the fat-soluble vitamins A and E, as well as fatty acids from oxidation. Recent research has indicated that the intake of antioxidants like vitamin C can prevent or counteract cell damage due to aging. Vitamin C is a very important part of a healthy diet and should be taken daily.

Vitamin D3
This vitamin has long been known for its important role in regulating body levels of calcium and phosphorus and in mineralization of bone. Receptors for vitamin D3 are present in a wide variety of cells as this hormone has biological effects which extend far beyond control of mineral metabolism. Natural diets typically do not contain adequate quantities of vitamin D3. Its most dramatic effect is to facilitate intestinal absorption of calcium.

Vitamin E
This vitamin is essential for good health and disease prevention. Numerous clinical studies suggest that vitamin E may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, the common cold, and others. The many benefits of vitamin E are well established, as it is a potent antioxidant that works primarily to stabilize dangerous free radicals.

Calcium
This mineral is essential to maintaining total body health. Your body needs it everyday, not just to keep your bones and teeth strong throughout your lifetime, but to ensure proper functioning of muscles and nerves. Most Americans are calcium deficient. When blood calcium levels drop too low, this vital mineral is "borrowed" from bones. The average person loses 400 - 500 mg of calcium per day. Calcium is also very important for the heart, muscle and nerves to function properly. Too much "borrowing" calcium from the bones can eventually lead to osteoporosis, a disease marked by the deterioration of bone tissue and low bone mass, often caused by calcium deficiency. We recommend taking liquid calcium at night before you go to sleep, separate from the multi-vitamins. Mixing multi-vitamins with large amounts of calcium can interfere with the proper absorption of minerals.

Magnesium
This is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Approximately 50% of total body magnesium is found in bone. The other half is found inside cells of body tissues and organs. Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system and keeps bones strong. It furthermore helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism. There is an increased interest in the role of magnesium in preventing and managing disorders such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Zinc
Zinc is an essential mineral found in almost every one of the billions of cells in our body. It stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes, which are substances that promote biochemical reactions in our body. Zinc supports a healthy immune system, and is needed for proper healing of wounds, helps maintain your sense of taste and smell, and is needed for DNA synthesis. Zinc is furthermore important for the maintenance of the immune system and gland health. It can be rapidly depleted when the body is fighting an illness such as the cold and flu. It is the tenth most abundant element in the human body. Zinc promotes immune system health by activating the production of white blood cells which form the basis of the immune system and destroying both damaged cells and invaders when antibodies recognize a specific antigen or foreign pathogen, such as a virus. Zinc has been shown to play an integral role in combating stress. Zinc also protects the liver from damage.

Selenium
Selenium is incorporated into proteins to make selenoproteins, which are important antioxidant enzymes. They help prevent cellular damage from free radicals. Selenium may also prevent or slow tumor growth. Clinical studies are investigating whether selenium and/or vitamin E can decrease the risk of prostate cancer in healthy men. According to ongoing studies, selenium is one of a group of antioxidants that may help limit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and thereby help to prevent coronary artery disease. Surveys indicate that individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic disease that causes pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of function in joints, have reduced selenium levels in their blood. Selenium, as an antioxidant, may help to relieve some of these symptoms of arthritis by controlling levels of free radicals.

Chromium
This is an essential trace mineral for the human body. It is important in processing carbohydrates and fats, and it helps cells respond properly to insulin, the hormone produced in the pancreas that makes blood sugar available to the cells as our basic fuel. It has been mentioned (no proof yet available) that chromium in the form of chromium picolinate might promote weight loss, treat type-2 diabetes, and perhaps even prevent heart disease or alleviate depression.
Aloe Vera
The Aloe Vera plant has been prized for centuries for its beneficial properties - both internally and externally. The Aloe Vera gel in Passion 4 Life comes from certified organically grown leaves. The leaves are cold-pressed, thereby retaining all the important elements which constitute the beneficial aloe. It stimulates wound healing and cell proliferation including skin, liver, nerve and blood cells. It modulates inflammatory reactions and decreases pain by reducing swelling, joint and muscle pain and promotes recovery from infections. Aloe helps in decreasing cholesterol, triglyceride, and non-etherified fatty acids. It furthermore soothes gastrointestinal problems, including ulcers, by soothing irritated tissues. Aloe Vera has been used for over 4,000 years all over the world.

Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha Lipoic Acid is another major antioxidant which is widely used in prevention of various diseases. Its main function is to increase production of glutathione, which helps dissolve toxic substances in the liver. It is known as the "universal antioxidant". ALA has many benefits and all types of people benefit from taking ALA, especially individuals with some of the following conditions: diabetes or higher than normal blood sugar levels, high cholesterol levels, early stages of cataract and cardiovascular problems such as hardening of the arteries. It is the only antioxidant known to be both fat and water soluble. Furthermore, unlike any other antioxidant, ALA is easily transported across cell membranes, enabling it to confer free radical protection both inside and outside cell structures. Because ALA regenerates glutathione, it gives cells a double dose of powerful antioxidant protection. ALA is also important in cell metabolism for the production of energy inside the cell. ALA is found to have many promising effects in a whole variety of ailments and diseases in the body.

Cat's Claw (Una de Gato)
Studies beginning in the 1970's suggest many uses for Cat's Claw, which is a woody vine found in the highlands of the Peruvian rain forest. This herb's name is derived from Uncus, the Latin word for hook, since Cat's Claw has somewhat large curved thorns that resemble the claws of a cat (thus the name Cat's Claw). Studies suggest that Cat's Claw is useful in the treatment of a host of ailments, including arthritis, gastrointestinal upsets, ulcers, allergies, PMS, herpes, lupus, diabetes, fibromyalgia, rheumatism, depression and many more. Research has shown Cat's Claw cleanses the entire intestinal tract and assists patients suffering from a broad range of stomach and bowel disorders, including Crohn's disease, diverticultis, leaky bowel syndrome, colitis, hemorrhoids, gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers, parasites and intestinal flora imbalance. Many naturopathic physicians around the globe, including here in the U.S., are recommending Una de Gato (Cat's Claw) to their patients for a variety of health woes. This herb has been found to be safe with consistent reports of its positive effects including the enhanced desire for sexual activity.

Grape Seed Extract
As its name implies, Grape Seed Extract is derived from the small seeds (and occasionally the skins) of red grapes- the same kind that are pressed to make red wine. It is rich in flavonoids, phytochemicals that have antioxidant properties, some consider even greater than vitamin C and E. For many years, European doctors have prescribed Grape Seed Extract for various vascular (vessel) disorders that are likely to benefit from increased blood flow such as diabetes, leg cramps, varicose veins, arm and leg numbness and even impotence. Grape Seed Extract effectively penetrates cell membranes throughout the body with its antioxidant properties. It can even cross into the brain to protect brain cells from free-radical damage. The risk for heart attack and stroke may be reduced with this potent antioxidant, which is believed to prevent the plaque development that can clog arteries. Fibromyalgia is an elusive disorder associated with chronic muscle pain and stiffness. The antioxidant power of Grape Seed Extract can help by protecting besieged muscle cells from damage.

Lycopene
In one 6-year study by Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, the diets of more than 47,000 men were studied. Of 46 fruits and vegetables evaluated, only the tomato products (which contain large quantities of lycopene) showed a measurable relationship to reduce prostate cancer risk. As consumption of tomato products increase, levels of lycopene in the blood increased, and the risk for prostate cancer decreased. Ongoing preliminary research suggests that lycopene is associated with reduced risk of macular degenerative disease, cancer of the cervix, lung, bladder and skin. Lycopene is a biologically important carotid for humans. It is considered as the ultimate phytochemical nutraceutical. It reduces the risk of developing arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease according to a study published in an October 1998 issue of Lipids.

Amino Acids
hese are the "building blocks" of the body. Besides building cells and repairing tissue, they form antibodies to combat invading bacteria and viruses. They are part of the enzyme and hormonal system. Amino acids build nucleoproteins (RNA and DNA), they carry oxygen throughout our body and participate in muscle activity. When protein is broken down by digestion, the result is 22 known amino acids. Eight are essential (cannot be manufactured by the body with proper nutrition). One such essential Amino acid is Tryptophan. This is a natural relaxant and helps alleviate insomnia by inducing normal sleep. It reduces anxiety and depression, it helps in the treatment of migraine headaches, it helps the immune system, it helps reduce the risk of artery heart spasms, and it works with lysine in reducing cholesterol levels.

Phytonutrients
These are found in foods from plants that are not classified as vitamins or minerals. Research has shown that many phyto nutrients work together with vitamins and minerals and have antioxidant properties. The term phyto nutrient refers to substances found in food that behave in certain beneficial ways in the body. Over 100 phyto nutrients have been indentified. Many have a regulating effect on the immune and hormonal systems in the body and protect cells from damage. Cell damage is at the root of many diseases such as cancer, heart disease and even premature aging.

Plant Source Ionic Trace Minerals
These minerals give you what you should be getting from vegetables. However, our depleted soils have been strip-mined for 100+ years, and soils no longer contain the minerals your body needs. As a result, many Americans suffer from mineral deficient diseases. Predigested by plants, the plant source minerals in Passion 4 Life are the most absorbable nutrients you can get. At least 98% of the plant source minerals in Passion 4 Life can be absorbed, as opposed to chelated (40-60%) or regular elemental (8-12%) minerals. They are "adaptagens" which means the plant source mineral in Passion 4 Life will not interfere with any other supplemental or therapeutic program. Instead, they assist any and all diets, medication and herbs to work faster and more efficiently. They are an inexpensive "preventative". One ounce of Passion 4 Life daily contains more minerals than most people get in a week.
